|Thorsten Ochs, CEO and President
Dr. Thorsten Ochs joined Seeo as CEO and President in January, 2017. He has more than 16 years of experience in industrial research and development in the automotive industry. Dr. Ochs is Vice President of the Strategic Program Battery Technology at Robert Bosch and leads the research and pre-development activities regarding the high energy batteries. Prior to this, he was director of the chemistry department at Robert Bosch Corporate Research with responsibilities for electrochemical energy storage and conversion and electrochemical sensors. He received a Master’s degree (Diploma) in Physics from the University of Gießen, Germany, and a PhD in Physics from the Max Planck Institute for Metal Research and the University of Stuttgart, Germany.
|Hany Eitouni, CTO and VP of Advanced Engineering, Founder
Dr. Eitouni was part of the team that developed the LBNL solid polymer electrolyte technology and has more than 10 years experience with polymer materials with specialized expertise in ionic transport through polymers. At Seeo, Dr. Eitouni has successfully led the effort to design, synthesize, and optimize Seeo’s proprietary electrolyte polymers with improved properties. Previously he was a staff scientist at Symyx Technologies where he established methods for determination of mechanical properties of low viscosity hot melt adhesives and developed high throughput instrumentation for materials discovery. He received a PhD from University of California, Berkeley and a BS from University of Texas, Austin, both in chemical engineering.
|Hiroyuki Yumoto, VP of Cell Development and Pilot Line Production
Hiroyuki Yumoto has more than 16 years of experience in the development of materials and cell design for lithium-ion and other battery chemistries. Most recently, Mr. Yumoto was Director of Cell Development at EnerDel and led all cell-level activity including R&D, product development and product engineering. Prior to this, Mr. Yumoto was Manager of Research & Development at Quallion. Mr. Yumoto started his career with Japan Storage Battery (JSB), one of the leading battery companies in Japan. He has extensive experience in developing materials for both primary and secondary lithium-ion batteries, including electrodes, electrolytes and separators. Mr. Yumoto has a BS in Industrial Chemistry and a MS in Polymer Chemistry from Kyoto University and a MS in Materials Science from the University of Southern California.
|Michael Smith, Director of Quality and Administration
Michael Smith has more than 30 years of experience in the automotive industry, working in Quality Assurance and Operations Management roles for Tier 1 automotive suppliers. He served as Director of Quality at EnerDel, where he led all Quality Assurance activity supporting the development and successful launches of automotive EV batteries and grid energy storage systems. Prior to that, he was Director of Operations for ELSA LLC, a manufacturer of fuel tanks, exhausts, and structural parts for various automakers. He also spent nearly 24 years with Alpine Electronics of America, where he managed Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, and multiple support departments. He is a certified ISO/TS 16949 Lead Auditor and has implemented multiple quality management systems leading to successful third-party registrations. Michael holds degrees in Management and Electronics Engineering Technology.
|Frank Baumann, Director of Project Management
Dr. Frank Baumann joined Seeo as Director of Project Management in September, 2015. He has more than 17 years experience in industrial research and development of catalysts, electrochemical energy storage, and converters. Most recently, Dr. Baumann was Senior Project Manager in Robert Bosch Corporate Research and led a project on high energy batteries. Prior to this, he was Senior Manager with responsibility for electrochemical energy storage and conversion in Robert Bosch Corporate Research. Dr. Baumann spent 5 years in the chemical industry with positions as Group Manager at Umicore and Degussa. He received a BS in Chemistry from the University of Stuttgart, Germany, a MS in Organic Chemistry from the University of Cincinnati, OH, and a diploma & PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Stuttgart, Germany.
